AUSTRALIAN INTERSCHOOLS OVERALL MALE CHAMPIONS

2008-2018 Australian Interschools Male Senior Overall Snowsports Champions

2007-2016 & 2018 Australian Interschools Male Primary Overall Snowsports Champions

For well over a decade now The Scots Race, held annually at Perisher, has been the largest individual and family-oriented, fun Snowsports Championships for all ages held in a single day on one race course in the Southern Hemisphere.

It is open to boys, girls and parents of all abilities from any school, with children competing in the same divisions as Interschools, which now has a Division 6. The repeated success of these annual Championships is one of the main achievements of The Scots College Snowsports Association.

A significant announcement in 2014 was The Scots College being awarded the 2014 Ski and Snowboard Australia (SSA) Snowsports School of the Year Award, following on from previous wins in the 2004 and 2010 SSA School Club of the Year Awards.

As the criteria for this Award is based not only on competition results but on a School’s Snowsports Program including size and participation levels in regard to the overall size of the School, athlete education including safety, fitness, skills and dryland training activities, recognition of Snowsports and its athletes by the School and Club and other Criteria, it is a far more inclusive team-oriented award.

This is regarded by The Scots College as one of the more outstanding achievements for Snowsports.

The Scots College was the recipient of the 2016 NSW Alpine School of the Year Award, which it had previously won in 2007 and 2015 also, in recognition of the outstanding achievements of the Scots Alpine athletes who, accumulatively, earned enough SSA and FIS points during the non-Interschools competitions in 2016, to be considered for this Award.

The ultimate aim however of our Snowsports Program is to participate in the Interschools Snowsports Championships, which provides snowsports pathways for the youngest to the oldest children at School.

Starting at local Regional levels through various qualifying competitions onto State and, ultimately, Australian National Championships held annually, students have the opportunity to represent the College in Snowsports competitions.

For 10 consecutive years, 2008-2017 inclusive, the Senior School has been the Australian Secondary Overall Male Interschools Snowsports Champions, following in the footsteps of the Preparatory School, which was the Australian Primary Male Champions for 10 years from 2007- 2016 inclusive. Combined, leading into 2018, this unarguably makes The Scots College the pre- eminent Male Snowsports School in Australia.

The Scots College has represented the School and Australia in the bi-annual International Children’s Winter Games (ICWG) on four occasions, including 2009 in Montreux-Vevey, Switzerland, 2011 in Kelowna, Canada, 2013 in Ufa, Russia and 2016 in Innsbruck, Austria.

Such results have only been possible due to enormous sacrifice and exceptional hard work by the students themselves, their families, the MIC’s and with the full support of the College.
