SCOTS ARE 2018 OVERALL MALE AUSTRALIAN INTERSCHOOLS CHAMPIONS!

Published on: Thursday 13th September 2018
The Preparatory School regained the Australian Overall Primary Male Interschools Snowsports Champions title achieving a total score of 138 points followed closely by their great rivals Scotch College Junior School from Victoria on 112 points, and The King’s School a credible third on 86 points.

The Senior School has now won the Australian Overall Male Championships Title for an incredible 11 consecutive years, achieving an amazing 238 points. This was a convincing margin ahead of their great Victorian rivals Melbourne Grammar School on 152 points with The King’s School on 92 points in third place.

All Snowsports athletes contributed to these outstanding achievements from Sydney Championships level up, and everyone involved should feel justifiably proud of these levels of excellence.

These results over so many years are a reflection on the outstanding commitment and passion displayed by the Director of Snowsports and Master in Charge of the Senior School Mr. Andrew Kovari, and Master in Charge of the Preparatory School, Mr. Clive Tanner, without whom these results would be unlikely to have been achieved.

The Development and Race Coaching Programs that the Snowsports Committee has helped develop with Mr. Tanner particularly for the Preparatory School this year, have assisted enormously in bringing this Title back to The Scots College in 2018.

There are so many people outside of the boys and MIC’s themselves who have contributed to these amazing results, not least of which of course are the College staff from the Principal, Dr Ian Lambert, The Head of The Preparatory School Mr. John Crerar and all involved in the Senior and Preparatory Schools who support them and Snowsports. These include but are not necessarily limited to Mr. Graham Pattison, Senior School Sports Master Mr. Brent Wilsmore, Prep Sports Master, Mr. Andrew Potter, Mr. Duncan Kendall, Mr. Nicholas Spencer, Mr. Rod Stoddart, Mr. Paul Oates, Mr. Geoff Downes and of course our Snowsports Academy Teachers and Assistants, Mr. Bill Johnston, Mr. Roger Seaborn, Ms. Stephanie Comino and Mr. Phil Snedden.

Finally, the Executive Committee of the Snowsports Association should all feel extremely proud at having helped both their own sons and other boys from both the Prep and Senior Schools with all the effort, hard work and commitment they have put in to Snowsports at Scots during 2018, to assist the boys to reach such high levels of excellence. It makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Whilst it is impossible and unfair to mention specific boys efforts as everyone put in so much over all levels of Competitions, it would be unreasonable not to mention some particularly outstanding results which demonstrate extremely high levels of excellence.
